According to Pam: Pinterest

24 Sep

I’ve been spending a lot of time on the internet lately. In class, after class, at home- you name it. My latest obsession: Pinterest. It reminds me a bit of tumblr- but if it’s possible-it’s kinda better. Now don’t get me wrong, I could spend hours on tumblr, but the best thing about pinterest is that the pictures are classified under “events,” “recipes,” “photography,” “home decor” etc. You then “pin” the picture to one of your “boards” which are titled Favourite Recipes, Party Ideas or My Style. It’s kind of like an online scrapbook. I’ve started my own account and have started collecting my fave pics, I’ll post it on the blog once I’ve accumulated enough material.

I highly suggest you check out this site, it’s so much fun looking through the pages (and not to mention a total and complete distraction) The picture I’ve attached to my post is one of my faves, anyone share my love for pink outdoor parties?

Comment if you love this site as much as I do.

Ok, I’m off, I need to decide what to wear tonight. Did I mention that I have absolutely NO OUTFIT IDEAS and am leaving in 10 minutes? Wish me luck.

Ok, it’s official, when bored: I ALWAYS turn to TUMBLR.

I’ve been stuck in lectures since 8 am (and I’ll be here until 9 pm tonight)-so lets just say: I made some EXCELLENT contributions.

Check it out-what do you guys think?

Any faves? I could include it as TUMBLR PIC OF THE DAY on facebook tomorrow (oh by the way, I love to do that. Probably one of the highlights of my morning)

I better get back to “listening”

Jess and Fray: why aren’t you in this class?? I need support!!!

Men Favor Brunettes and Curves?

2 Sep

Last night was just one of those nights when I COULD NOT fall asleep. What’s a girl to do at 5 am? Look aimlessly through twitter 😉 One of my fave bloggers Julie ( tweeted about a  recent UK study (which I’ll link down below) which was aimed at discovering which physical features men found most attractive in women.

To my surprise (I thought guys loved skinny blondes) approximately 60 percent of the 2,000 men polled said they preferred women with darker hair (33.1 percent chose brown hair and 28.6 selected black hair). Blonde hair received 29.5 percent of the votes.

The study also surveyed men about the size of women they prefer. According to the Huffington Post’s conversion from UK sizes to US sizes, “38.8 percent of men actually favor a pretty average girl — about a size 8 or 10. Only ten percent of British males find a size 2 or size 4 woman most attractive.”

So, there you go gals, indulge in that extra piece of chocolate, eat some pizza.

Now if only we could all look like Sofia Vergara (sigh)

I hope this article boosted your self-esteem ladies, it sure helped mine 😉

According to Pam: Steve Jobs

25 Aug

Although this post doesn’t have much to do with the roaring Montreal nightlife or social scene, I couldn’t resist blogging about Steve Jobs’s resignation as Apple’s CEO. For as long as I can remember my classrooms have been filled with shiny and new Apple laptops, the only light in the dim class originating from the brand’s iconic Apple logo.

In fact, Jobs’s determination and dedication towards his product helped Apple Inc. attain the title as the world’s largest technology corporation.

The inspiration for this post comes after reading an article one of our facebook followers posted on the Renascence wall. It’s called “Jobs On life” – I’ll post the link down below because I think all of you should read it. In the article, Jobs preaches to a group of Stanford grads three crucial stories from his past.

The story that struck me most? Well, the one that reminded me of Renascence of course! As we’ve stated before, the dictionary definition of Renascence is the revival of something dormant. In our case, the revival of our friendship inspired us to create the tumblr which led to our blog. Writing about our experiences is something we love to do. Although this isn’t a full-time job today, we all decided to keep up this endeavor as long as we still love what we’re doing, perhaps take it further and further as the years progress. In the word’s of a man who built an empire, “…the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don’t settle.”

In honor of Mr. Jobs, I’m going to head over to the Apple store on St-Catherine today. I don’t need a new laptop, Ipod or phone, but I want to somehow commemorate the “cult” that is Apple. I don’t know, maybe I’ll buy a laptop case or something.

Thank you for sharing this article with us Elyse Rowen.

It’s given me so much motivation to continue working on Renascence and do what I love.
